19 year old Benjamin “Ben” Roseland was last seen in Clinton, Iowa on February 9, 2008. He disappeared after leaving a friend’s house in the 400 block of 10th Avenue around 10:30 pm.
Background
Benjamin Roseland was born on November 24, 1988. He lived with his parents in the 1900 block of Perishing Boulevard and was taking classes at Clinton Community College at the time of his disappearance.
On November 29, 2007, Ben was involved in a car accident which resulted in serious injuries. Responders needed to use the Jaws of Life to get him out of his vehicle, and he was airlifted to Iowa City to be treated for multiple skull fractures.
Another person was injured in the accident, resulting in Roseland being charged with driving on a suspended license and failure to stop. The case was pending when he disappeared, and he had already paid a $5,000 retainer for an attorney.
His loved ones say it’s uncharacteristic of him to go missing, and that he would not have have fled to escape the pending charges.
Disappearance
At approximately 10:25 pm on February 8, 2008, Ben Roseland was last seen leaving his friend’s house in the 400 block of 10th Avenue in Clinton, Iowa. He was heading across the street to get snacks at the Hy-Vee grocery store, located in the 900 block of South 4th Street, though surveillance footage shows he never made it there.
A search dog located one of Ben’s shoes in a vacant yard at the corner of 13th Avenue South and 3rd Street, and the other was found on the east side of the street. No further clues as to his whereabouts have been found.
Investigation
There has been no activity on his cell phone or bank account since his disappearance. He left behind a significant amount of money in his savings account.
Ben did not have a car at the time, and did not have any extra money or personal belongings with him.
Appearance
White male born on November 24, 1988. Benjamin has brown hair, blue eyes, stands 5’11 tall, and weighs 175 pounds.
He has several scars; a circular scar above his lip on the left side of his face, a scar in the center of his lower lip that runs to his chin, and a scar at the right corner of his mouth that is approximately 1 inch across his cheek. On his chest area he has a 3/4 inch scar to the right of his left nipple.
Clothing & Accessories:
Ben was last seen wearing a brown polo shirt, camouflage bib overalls, blue jeans, and brown camouflage tennis shoes.
